For a wedding invitation, a calligraphic, handwritten font with a cursive style makes a lot of sense. On the other hand, for an event poster for a political rally, you might want something a bit more bold and more legible.

You also have to understand your target audience. If your target audience is artistic, a calligraphic font will likely work well.

However, if your target audience is more into sports, for example, you might want something a bit bolder. It all depends on what your target audience will appreciate.

Post at the Right Time

In addition to using the right font, it’s important to post at the right time. Generally, during weekdays, evening time is best, as that’s when people are at home.

Posting early in the morning (before the workday starts) or at the beginning of lunch break can also be helpful.

At the beginning of the day, people usually check their phones and social media right when waking up, and during lunch break, a lot of people check their phones out of boredom.

Saturday is also a good time to post. Surprisingly, I have found that Sunday isn’t a great time to post, possibly because a lot of people are out spending time with family and not looking at their phones.

Use Engaging Pictures and Visuals

If you’re a business on Instagram, you want to avoid stock photos. Instead, hire someone to create engaging graphics and visuals.

There are plenty of freelance graphic designers available on Fiverr and Upwork; there’s no need to hire someone in-house if you can’t afford it. You can specify to them which fonts you want them to use.

Post Reels

Instagram allows you to post video reels. Video reels can really boost engagement.

Don’t overdo it with reels, though. The majority of your posts should be images or graphics, with a few reels sprinkled in.

Use Hashtags

When you post a graphic on Instagram, always include at least a few relevant hashtags. Ten to 25 hashtags seems to be the sweet spot.

Try to target hashtags that a lot of people are targeting. When you start typing a hashtag on Instagram, Instagram will offer you autocomplete suggestions, along with data about how many posts have that hashtag.

You can also use a tool like Hashtagify to find trending hashtags. Just make sure the hashtags are relevant!

Don’t post unrelated hashtags like #follow4follow just because a lot of people are using them.

Post Stories

Instagram stories stay up for 24 hours only, after which they disappear. They offer a great way to post things without clogging up your profile.

In addition, you can repost the same thing several times, which helps you target people who may have been away from the app for a few days and didn’t get a chance to see your post.

However, although Instagram stories disappear after 24 hours, you can put them in your “Highlights” section, which allows your followers to browse through specific past stories that you decided to highlight.

Engage With Your Followers

When someone comments on your posts, like and respond to them. You don’t have to respond to every comment, but you should at least respond to some of them to show that you are monitoring comments.
