As smartphones become increasingly fragile, the need for reliable protective cases has increased. This has given rise to phone accessory manufacturers promising quality products including phone cases.

Two of those brands are Casetify and Mous, and that’s what we will focus on today.

We will compare the two regarding smartphone compatibility, design, aesthetics, durability, pricing, and customer reviews.

Read on for more.

Casetify vs Mous – Brief Overview

Casetify was founded in 2011 to provide smartphone owners with stylish protective phone cases. The brand has grown over the years and has been associated with several celebrity names like Taylor Swift.

It has a wide range of product support, with new lines of cases dropped every year. However, Casetify was embroiled in a copyright infringement case with Dbrand. Despite that, it continues to create reliable and stylish cases to date.

On the other hand, Mous was created in 2014 by a group of friends with a knack for solid cases. The brand has experienced a rapid growth spurt, including the 2017 launch of its famous Limitless 1.0 cases.

Like Casetify, Mous is based in the United States but ships the products worldwide. Let’s dive deeper and explore how these cases live up to their billing.

Casetify vs Mous – Compatibility and Fit

The most important factors for a good phone case are compatibility and fit. The more devices supported, the more convenient for the users. So, how smartphone-compatible are these two phone case makers?

Casetify

Casetify makes phone cases for all major phone brands worldwide.

Apple users can get cases for all versions of iPhones. That includes 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, SE, XS, XR, X, 8, and 7 Plus. It also offers cases for 1st and 2nd generation AirPods in varying designs and aesthetics.

iPad devices that are also covered include 10th-generation iPads, iPad Air, iPad mini, and all generations of iPad Pro. All MacBook versions from 2019 and the latest Apple watches also have special protective Casetify cases.

You can also find cases for Samsung S and Z series and Galaxy Buds. Google Pixel devices are also covered. There are cases for devices ranging from Pixel 6 to Pixel 8 Pro.

Mous

Like Casetify, Mous offers cases for all major phone brands.

Available Apple product cases include all iPhone 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, SE, X, 8, 7, and 6 versions. You can also find cases for all MacBook Pro and AirPod cases from 2016 to 2022.

As for Android devices, Mous sells cases for Pixel devices ranging from Pixel 6 to Pixel 8 Pro. I searched the Mous online shop and saw no protective phone case for Samsung devices.

However, it has an impressive stock of screen protectors that you can combine with the cases to keep devices safe.

Verdict: This was tight, but Casetify won it because it is the only one that has protective cases for Samsung devices. However, both brands provide many cases for Apple and Google products too.

Casetify vs Mous – Design, Aesthetics, and Customization Options

Protective cases are the first things someone sees. Therefore, they need to offer more than just protection.

They also need to look good since phones are important for first impressions.

Casetify

Casetify produces some of the most attractive phone cases on the market. The brand doesn’t shy away from experimenting with bold and colorful designs.

The reason behind this is that Casetify works with many independent artists. This collaboration has given birth to unique designs and provided artists with a platform to flaunt their work.

Users can also send personalized requests for their phone cases at an extra fee. They can choose the artwork, colors, and fonts, among many other things.

Casetify even has a special custom case section on its website where users can create designs in real time. They can choose cases, layouts, and devices, then save the design and send it in to be made.

Mous

Compared to Casetify, Mous takes a reserved approach. While I could see the occasional colorful case, most were ordinary.

Most of the customized cases are also made in collaboration with indie artists. When you open a case, you can see the name of the artist and the inspiration behind it.

These cases are called Mous Collabs, and the program was introduced in 2023. It has allowed artists to showcase their work and make good money in the process.

However, Mous doesn’t offer its customers an option to design their cases in real time like Casetify. They’re limited to buying what’s already available in stock.

Verdict: These brands work with independent artists to create attractive protective cases. But Casetify is bolder and even provides a customization section that allows ordinary buyers to design personalized cases. So, Casetify wins this round.

Casetify vs Mous – Durability and Protection

Protection is the main reason people get phone cases to begin with. Let’s see how good each of these is.

Casetify

Casetify uses Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) as the core material for its cases. It blends it with other elements to ensure the cases are not too rigid or easy to crack.

The outer layers of the cases have a unique roughness to counter slippery hands. Furthermore, it has a multi-layered construction that absorbs shock when the phone hits hard surfaces.

There’s also an extra scratch-resistant layer all around Casetify cases. They effectively make it hard to see scratches, especially when you use colorful cases.

Casetify is also conscious of the environment and has a program that recycles old cases to make new ones. The Re/CASETiFY Technology program has significantly helped Casetify cut its carbon footprint.

Mous

Mous has been investing heavily in new technologies to make their cases damage-proof. This has given rise to several interesting technologies.

There’s AiroFoam which uses non-Newtonian fluid that absorbs shock when subjected to stress from impacts. The fluid changes from time to time into a malleable form, reducing the chances of the case cracking.

At the same time, they protect the phones by bouncing on the floor without transferring the impact to the screens.

Mous also uses another technology called AiroShock. This is incorporated into the hardware parts of the cases to offer ultimate defense against sudden drops. The biggest advantage of this is it allows the Mous cases to be slimmer and stylish without compromising phone security.

Other notable tech used by Mous includes IntraLock for safe mechanical mounting of the device into the case.

Verdict: Casetify and Mous do a very good job keeping phones safe by combining reliable materials and technology. However, Mous has the upper hand because it combines several safety technologies to keep phones safe.

Casetify vs Mous – Pricing and Value for Money

Affordability is another pressure point that buyers pay close attention to. While there isn’t a standard price for phone cases, these two brands have a significant difference.

Casetify

The costliest phone case I saw on Casetify at the time of this writing was an iPhone 15 Color Cloud. The retail price was $110. The cheapest cases were for iPhone 7, which cost about $32. Most of the other cases had prices ranging between these two prices.

At the same time, some cases are sold with extra accessories like chains, which pushes the prices up a little. The highest price for a custom case was also $110 for the iPhone 15.

Fortunately for Casetify buyers, the platform offers promotions and gift cards. You can use these to grab the phone case you want on the cheap.

The payment options include VISA, MasterCard, American Express, and Apple Pay. There is a 10-day No-Questions-Asked return or exchange, and all cases come with a 12-month extended warranty.

Mous

Most Mous phone cases are cheaper than Casetify. The most expensive case I encountered was $79 for a MagSafe-compatible iPhone 15 phone case. The cheapest was a $34 phone case.

Most accessories are charged separately rather than sold with the phone case as a bundle. Some notable ones include car vent mounts, screen protectors, and MagSafe chargers, among many more.

Another advantage Mous has over Casetify is that it supports more payment options. You can buy using Klarna, Amex, Apple Pay, Diner Club, Discover, Meta, Google Pay, MasterCard, PayPal, VISA, etc.

It also offers gift cards and student discounts from time to time. Mous also has longer warranties than Casetify. They range from one year to 25 years, depending on the product bought.

Verdict: Both brands have varying price tags that fit everybody’s pocket. But overall, Mous is cheaper, has more payment options, and offers longer phone case warranties. So Mous wins this round.

Casetify vs Mous – Reviews and Customer Feedback

Customer feedback and reviews have become the backbone of online shopping. Many customers check reviews before making any purchase. Here’s how Casetify and Mous fared based on Trustpilot reviews.

Casetify

Casetify has a user review score of 3.8/5 on Trustpilot with over 99,000 reviews and ratings submitted.

Most of the positive reviews are centered around the amazing customer service and the range of devices. Customers were particularly impressed with the colorful designs Casetify offers.

However, there were some negative reviews, too. One complained about the poor quality of the phone cases, which barely protected their phone from damage. Another user complained about deliveries taking too long to reach them.

Mous

Mous has a better user rating on Trustpilot. It currently stands at 4.5/5 after about 9,000 reviews.

Most of the positive reviews speak about the amazing quality of the cases. One user mentioned how he has been using the case for seven years without damaging their device. There are also many positive reviews on Mous’ customer service.

But even Mous isn’t immune to negative reviews.

A user complained about the low quality of the phone cases, which resulted in their phone getting a screen crack. Slow delivery is another standout bad review from another user who advises people who want quick deliveries to avoid Mous.

Verdict: Mous has better user reviews on Trustpilot than Casetify, although the reviews are fewer. But, all the same, Mous wins this round because it appears to be doing something right with its products.
