Vyond

As a new Vyond user, you can easily create an account using your email address. You have to enter your name, email, company, job role, and country to create.

Alternatively, you can sign up more quickly using your Google or Office 365 account. With this method, all you need is a click. However, you’ll still need to enter your company name and job role.

When you complete the signup, you don’t have to pay immediately. You begin with the free trial, which you won’t need to enter your card details to access. You only need to pay if you want to access all Vyond features from the onset.

Powtoon

To use Powtoon, you have to create an account using your email address or Google, Facebook, Office 365, or LinkedIn account. Hence, you have many options.

The Vyond video editor is intuitive. It features a menu bar from which you can access the media library and insert scenes, characters, props, charts, text, and audio. There’s also the option to import media files from your device.

The Powtoon video editor features three vertical sections. The first section displays the slides/scenes, while the second is the editing area. In the third section, you will find all the features and elements you need.

Powtoon also supports drag-and-drop functionality. To make things easy, you can use the search box in the third section to find any video or animation element you need.

Both Vyond and Powtoon have feature-packed video editors, but Vyond’s is more intuitive than Powtoon’s.

Animation

Vyond

You’ll find Vyond animation features in the right section of the video editor’s menu tab. The animation options include actions, facial expressions, dialog, effects, and motion paths.

These are easy to apply. First, click on the character or other element you want to animate. Next, navigate the animation options until you find the right one.

Vyond gives you a real-time preview after applying an animation effect. However, you’ll have to manage them from the bottom section, especially when you have many page elements.

Vyond has over 1,100 action animations, 25 facial expressions, 56 effects, and 79 motion paths. For dialog, you can use a mic recording, text-to-speech, or upload an audio file.

Powtoon

The Animated Explainer option is your go-to if you want to create animations with Powtoon. Nevertheless, you can still add animated effects in other video types.

Animating with Powtoon is relatively easy. This is primarily because you get animation options whenever you click on a character or other element. It saves you the time of returning to the feature section whenever you want to add a new effect.

Powtoon allows you to animate text, characters, props, shapes, and images. In addition, you can add videos and audio.

When adding audio, your options include music files, voiceovers, soundtracks, and premium sound effects.

Verdict

It’s easier to animate with Powtoon as you don’t have to navigate to the menu to add effects.

Character Creator

Vyond

Vyond doesn’t limit you to the default characters. You can create new, unique characters as well. There are two options for this. You can either use the character creator or generate a character from a photo.

The latter is an ingenious option, but it’s still in beta mode. Hence, you may not get the best result. The character creator, on the other hand, is dependable.

You can create a character from scratch or copy and edit an existing character. Three character styles are available for both options: contemporary, business-friendly, and whiteboard animation.

Subsequently, you select the character’s body type and edit the facial features, clothing, height, and accessories.

Powtoon

To begin with the Powtoon character builder, you have to select a character type – male or female.

Supported File Formats

Vyond

Vyond supports different image, audio, and video formats when importing media to the video editor. For images, the supported formats are JPG and PNG, and you can upload a maximum of 15 MB file size.

For audio, the supported formats are MP3, M4A, and WAV. The maximum size limit for audio files is 15 MB as well.

On the other hand, the maximum size limit for video files is much larger, at 100 MB. However, Vyond only supports one video format – MP4.

Other supported file formats include TTF and OTF for fonts and SVG for vector graphics.

Powtoon
